In accordance with the US Bishops Council, and our archdiocesan safe environment policy states that all adults who have regular contact with children/youth must successfully complete the safe environment training and a background check for SE certification, which is valid for 5 years. This certification must be active for all who have regular contact with children and youth. An example, but not complete list, would be anyone involved in the school:  lunch room volunteers, paras, library help, PTO, room parents, field trip chaperones ,teachers, or in the parish: coach, assistant coach, RF/CCD, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, vacation bible school.  This is in no way a complete listing.  If you are planning on participating in any of these events or other events, please make sure you have received your training at least 30 days prior to the event.

If you are planning on being involved in the St. Matthew community, you are strongly encouraged to attend the training session at St. Matthew to learn the procedures and contacts at our parish.  If you absolutely cannot attend a St. Matthew training session, they are available elsewhere in the Archdiocese at www.archomaha.com.

Training is for 2 hours and a complete list can be located on this website under the drop down tab Safe Environment- Training.

You need to carry your card with you at all times. If you have questions, lost your card, or need to verify whether or not you have had training, please contact Jill Muench, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

TO BE CERTIFIED TAKES MORE THAN JUST ATTENDING THE CLASS A BACKGROUND CHECK IS REQUIRED SO MAKE SURE YOU PLAN AHEAD.  YOU CAN NOT BE AROUND CHILDREN UNTIL ALL THE REQUIREMENTS ARE MET AND THIS CAN TAKE UP TO THREE (3) WEEKS SO PLAN AHEAD.
